Fantastic cheep 'pocket' camera.
I like to take some snaps when travelling but not keen on carrying heavy and expensive gear. It is not a super bright and sharp one, but daam it is cheep and has a biiiiig zoom. I also love the 'wifi' function, I can send snaps to my phone instantly.
Zoom is grreat! Not only for zooming but also for some nice artistic shots, framing, and portrasits.
You need a monopod. This camera need extra help when on the zoom or low light.
Suprisingly great battery! And it's usb charged so no extra junk to carry.
Overall great cheep travel camera for anybody wanting to start with photography, or want cheep all in one.
Perfect camera for budding photograph like me. There's so much to learn and it's a bit daunting, but the (lengthy) instructions are clear and easy enough to follow, so it's about persevering! The camera is slightly bigger than I expected, heavier too, but I bought the carry case at the same time and it fits perfectly in it, so no issues with keeping it around the neck. I still have not managed to transfer photos from the camera to PC via the wifi, maybe it's me?
The quality of photos and film is great. The zoom is magnificent, thank goodness for AF. Good investment.
To be fair, still learning how to get the best from the camera, so may amend the ratings as I progress, but so far not wowed with the picture quality compared to my old Cannon 12MP point and shoot. Zoom is very good, so 5 stars, but overall the connectivity is poor, it will not USB connect to my PC, nor will it WIFI without selling your sole on the Panasonic website. To get round this I manually take the card out and plug direct into the he PC. Finally a big argument with Amazon help desk re the delivery where it was stated parcel handed to receptionist ( it was a residential delivery) but no camera received by any family member. The parcel was found later that evening where the driver had thrown the parcel over a 6ft gate into the house side access., fortunately it hadn't rained in the meantime and it was well packed. So overall not impressed with the camera (yet) or the Amazon delivery service and the help desk response.
I purchased this FZ82 camera on the basis of the satisfactory results obtained from my use of the FZ72. I used it chiefly for video recording. As that Panasonic camera model works well as a video recording device, and as it has the same type of battery as the FZ82, the extended range of video formats available on the FZ82 (all the way from 720p at 25 fps, to 4K at 30fps) made purchasing it a logical step. Indeed, it is living up to my expectations.
Didn't want an all singing and dancing digital camera but didn't want a pocket camera and this has fitted the bill perfectly. It's perfect for me with plenty of options and a stunning digital zoom and what I like is it's got a viewfinder. Plenty of programmable options and also the ability to do a let of the functions manually. In my opinion as a non expert this is well worth a purchase and have been using it for 7 months now and still seems perfect for me.
if you are buying this for the zoom then you will be pleased but thats pretty much it, my £100 phone camera takes better quality normal shots then this £306 camera, of course it dropped over 50 quid 1 week after buying it
Autofocus and stablielisation,
its pretty decent for this price camera, unfortunatly it comes at a price, if you are making a video you will just hear the camera noise all the time, this camera doesnt have a external mic port so this kinda screws you up for making wideos unless using an external sort and syncing sound siles at a later date
with the mic on the top with no wind filter you can just imagine what its like recording outside, no external mic option so outside recording. and as perviously mentioned the noise from autofocus and stabilisation is horrendous.
this is the only reason i have not sent this camera back, the zoom on this camera is outstanding only second to the nikon p900 and p1000 which is twice the price of this camera. i managed to catch a rare video of an eagle once exstinct in Ireland, something id never of been able to see without this outstanding zoom, it takes abit of getting used to and a tripod is a must,
with the right light pictures can be good but unfortunatly this camera is lacking a good sensor, i i find that my phone takes better close shots then what this camera does, it may give you 4k resolution but its not a crisp picture even under perfect conditions,
id say its about average
Higher resolution EVF
Touch-screen with improved resolution
10fps continuous shooting
Wi-Fi and remote controling from android or ios device
60x optical zoom lens, f/2.8-5.9, 20mm to 1200mm equivalent
No full screen with the app
poor sound quaility
loud mechanical sound from stabilsation and auto focus
no external mic port
mostly plastic and cheap looking
poor instruction booklet (you can find a better one online)
