New car did not have built in Sat nav. Always used TomTom. Screen has changed and optional colours a bit wishy washy but can get used to. No issues with accuracy but it does lead you through country lanes. Updated through Wi-Fi so no computer or sd card needed. Suggest use in conjunction with a road map to plan best route.

Not easy o set up at all. No instruction and the ones you get, dpsay you need a smart phone. What do people who don't have a smart phone do it.
Connection failed many times trying to update boxed system. Had to leave it on fir over 12 hours plugged in after 2 hours getting it to connect, then update speed was incredibly slow. Took over 12 hours to reach 100%.
The old way plugging into a pc took less than 5 minutes.
This is not an improvement at all.
Even if it is free maps forever.
Not used yet but screen is cluttered by road graphics that I don't understand yet, the roads seem to me moving in different colours all over the screen, very distracting.

The basic product is OK but traffic is useless, works less that 10% of the time. Had this 2 years now and it only occasionally works. No way to understand why it sometimes works and other (most) times just will not connect. I have an iPhone 8 although it's the same on my iPhone 5. Contacted support and they had no idea. If you want to rely on traffic buy something else.

Beware, I wanted a basic but reliable sat nav. The first sat nav went wrong after 3 weeks, this was replaced by Amazon. My second Basic go device was fine for about 5 weeks then I had the same problem. It appears that the touch screen is RESISTIVE (like many cheaper Sat navs). When you push the screen it sometimes doesn't respond or if you type a post code on the keypad the wrong characters appear, therefore the keypad is temperamental. Sometimes it works fine, then it doesn't. This can be frustrating if you're trying to quickly look up a destination. Contacted Tomtom who suggested a full reboot but still no good so I've returned it to Amazon AGAIN. Apart from the most important thing like typing in where you want to go it works fine! I've decided to pay a bit more money and get a CAPACITIVE touch screen sat nav. More expensive Tomtom models have these type of screens but I have lost confidence in Tomtom. Have decided to purchase a Garmin DriveSmart 65 for an extra £60, hopefully it won't let me down.

All I can say, is I'm glad it came with an app! Trying to enter an address on this thing is a nightmare, especially when in the middle of driving...need to add a stop? Well good luck, because it misreads where you tap, is either under sensitive or over sensitive and scrolling down is more difficult than it needs to be, if it even lets you scroll down.

I've had Tom Tom my whole driving life, with my last one being £40 less than this and lasting seven years. I only needed a new one after it got stolen from my car. - So safe to say I was really disappointed in this.

Never the less, when you're actually on the road towards a destination, it's one of the best sat navs out there. It tells you well within good time about turnings and exits off of roundabouts, which lane to be in etc with a great little zoom in too. You can't underestimate how good a sat nav is, when it lets you know where you're going, a few steps ahead. Nothing worse then coming off a slip road in the left and then finding out you're meant to be taking the third exit off of a roundabout when you're now stuck in the left lane going left only, because the sat nav only told you to come off the motorway and not the next step.

So if you've got the patience to tap billions of times before you are able to select your destination, then this is worth every penny. It also isn't as good as my old sat nav in terms of data entry...put in a postcode and it doesn't offer up a chance to choose which number or street!

This replaced a 10 year old TomTom which had stopped working. I liked the old one as it was so easy and intuitive to use. This one is far more complicated (unnecessarily so in my view) but acquires a signal quickly and is very accurate. It can display your car's speed and the speed limit of the road you're on. Amazing that it has this information for what seems like every road in Europe. I just wish there was a button you could press to operate it in simple mode instead of having to plough through the fiendishly complicated 160 page instruction manual.
