I drive mainly 18 ton rigids around London. In the three days I've been testing this (3 x 8 hour drives) the SatNav hasn't taken me down any illegal height/weight/width restrictions yet, BUT it seems to only care about whether it's legal to go down a road, not whether it's sensible to. For example today, it led me down two roads where I couldn't turn left at the end without taking a shunt as it was so tight, and we overruled it when it tried to take me down a VERY narrow residential cut-through because it incorrectly thought it would be a few seconds faster than sticking to the main roads and turning right at the lights! No sane lorry driver who knew the area would have made that decision. It's better than a car SatNav, but it's NOT as good as it should be for £350, and some of the speed limits are showing wrong even though it's just been updated (e.g. the M4 Long term roadworks are 50mph - it's been that way for months if not years - but the SatNav shows 60mph. One 20mph road with a speed cam showed as 30mph on the SatNav which could have got me in £100 and 3 points worth of trouble with said camera if I wasn't paying attention). Overall, not that impressed, but I'm not sure the competition is much better to be honest, which is a real shame. I'll update this review as I get more experience with it.

Bought this after passing my class 2 hgv and so far hasn't steered me wrong. Does have a habit sometimes of taking you the long way round but I haven't encountered a low bridge or width restriction using this so that's the main point for me. It takes a while to boot up and doesn't work in a particular hurry but I still regard it as money well spent and the fact that Amazon spread the cost over 5 payments was a win all the way.

Look: don't pay attention to bad reviews here. Every single sat nav has the same complaints from people but keep in mind it doesn't drive for you. You still have to use your brain and make decsions. Some of these guys seem to be using these navs to baby them through driving like the one who says it led him down a dead end. Surely that's a brain override decision.

I'm gonna tell you what this nav is the best on the market by far on. If you are a night trunker like me then get it. Sure it alot more than just a cheap one but the traffic and roadworks and closures update is about 85 percent accurate. When highways 'anythings possible' England closes a road this nav will pick it up and reroute you. Use that alongside your brain and you will never go wrong. The screen is not slow is average. Its usability is honestly great.

What this nav is not good for: look if you are doing multi drop. There is no satnav in the world which will be good for you. Brain power goes up over the nav. You cant complain about that. That's the job that you do.

This Nav is one of the best and worth the high price.

can't fault the maps, but the operating system for the sat nav on a whole is poor. Its honestly like trying to use a mobile phone in 2001. freezing etc.
The voice recognition is a joke. hardly ever works and when it does the sat nav starts to freeze.
For the price they are charging for this it really needs to have a more up to date operating system.

After over a year of using it in the truck I absolutely hate this piece of sh**.
You can set all the dimensions and weight as well as hazmat. So what? I'm always set at 44tonnes yet about 4 times in a month it takes me through 7.5 tonnes limit (the type which allows loading although it's never near my destination.
Communication with the phone requires the app running in the background which makes no sense as if I turn WiFi hotspot on my phone then the app isn't needed.
Add to that mediocre processor and memory which makes it sometimes lag for 20+ seconds, loose socket for a charger in a holder.
Lack of some major services and inability to see only those stations that I'm interested in ( I can only fill up diesel in shell garages).
There are mistakes in the map itself as well. Once it took me through off road! To avoid 20m of main B road because it thinks - well I don't know what it thinks. Another time it took me through 20ton bridge (when set to 44t) -luckily I was empty- otherwise I'd have to reverse some 2 miles.
I guess all of the sat nave have their faults and none are perfect but for the price paid it's rubbish.
I'm surprised that these have good reviews all over the internet.

I thought I was upgrading when I bought this but sadly not.... my old Tomtom 7000 truck sat nav at 10 years older has better functionality
The new 6250 does not have the ability to share files as the older model 7000 has, a massive let down, it is impossible to save & categorise your Poi's into groups to suit your own needs which is great loss to truckers that frequent the same places on a cycle. You can now no longer share your categorised files via Bluetooth as you could with the older 7000 model either which is a great loss if you work as a group, TomToms idea to get round your POI grouping is to sit with a laptop or your phone n download your poi's through postcodes which as we all know is no good at all as the postcodes can be several miles out when you're collecting or delivering in the countryside... Why would you want to omit this a from a supposed upgrade T near on £400
It's not all doom n gloom it is a good clear satnav n easy enough to operate, it has also not put me down the wrong road yet in the 2 months of ownership so that's a plus, the traffic news works well enough once you get used to how it works.
It is a shame that Tomtom is slipping behind in the satnav stakes due to their greed, I mean you're paying £400 for a satnav n they want to charge you £10 for an icon instead of the arrow to show where you are on map, Tomtom do say that they are going to release an update to enable you to group your poi's but as of yet (1year) it's not happened.... Shame but I think I'll have to move brands if the basic issues are not resolved.
