Bought for my elderly father to replace a 42" Panasonic plasma that he'd had for some time. Due to the thin bezel it takes up no more room but is all picture, and picture that is excellent. Good SMART facilities inc Netflix, Prime etc. TV looks fantastic on and off.

Amazon Customer Review

We've had a Panasonic LCD TV for a few years and so when we decided to get a bigger screen we went for Panasonic again as we were really happy with the picture quality on the old set.
First things, we were impressed how much lighter this 49” set is than an old 32” set. Set up was quite painless and it connected to the internet and our Sky+ box just fine. Scanning Freeview channels took about 5 minutes.
Now the bad news. Picture quality is unfortunately poor, a lot worse than 10 year old technology.
First thing that gets you is the very poor viewing angle. If you move only a little bit off straight on the colours change dramatically then remain constant to almost 180degrees. In the vertical plane the viewing angle is truly terrible, if you're eyes are not dead level with the screen then bad picture.
Secondly the picture lacks punch, it's like everything is in pastel shades. If this was a picture in Photoshop I would simply increase the contrast and adjust the black point. However, no amount of changing modes or settings worked. Watching floodlit T20 cricket, the pitch colour was just wrong. Since there's no Bluetooth on this I had to use the Sky box to put a contrast card on the screen. It was difficult to use this to adjust the image as the menus blotted out over half of the card. We eventually got the mid tones looking ok (at least until you moved) but then all the dark shades had gone to solid black. At that point we gave up, requested a return (as you're entitled to within 14 days), then bit the bullet and bought an OLED tv.
