I love my new AirPods! It's great just to put them in in a noisy place and enjoy the instant tranquility when the noise cancellation kicks in.
The sound quality is decent, if not sparkling.
Pairing is instantaneous.
The Controls are ok, although having to use the phone for volume adjustment seems a bit archaic. You can use Siri but the adjustment is very coarse.
You will need a case to attach them to something. At £250 they're too expensive to leave behind in public!
I love that I can use them to seamlessly watch my Apple TV too.
The battery level shows on my phone whenever I open the case.
One thing I don't like, is the ease with which the case opens and the buds can fall out!! I keep an elastic band around it now having nearly lost one on a station platform.
Straight to the point here.... they sound fantastic!
The ease of using them; especially with Apple products like my iPad Pro, iPhone, and MacBook Air, just ridiculous! Basically, get them close to the device, and open the case....and you're now connected. You hear a little 'bong' as you insert each 'pod' into your ears, and that's it.... you're now listening to the AirPods Pro.
A little click on either stalk will toggle noise cancelling on or off. The noise cancelling is good; very good even, but it's not up to the same standards set by the larger Bose and Sony over-ear headphones, but it still does what it advertises; it'll eliminate background TV or radio noise for instance, and ambient noise from a noisy environment - people talking, etc.
The case is very clever too, and can be charged using a lightening cable, or a wireless charging mat/pad.
Every time you put the 'pods' back into case, it then starts recharging the batteries built into each 'pod' so that they're ready to go next time you want to use them. Yes, I know, a few other manufacturers are doing that too, but it doesn't detract from the fact that it still pretty neat!!
The comfort factor is very high. They come with three sets of silicone tips of different sizes, and the bluetooth settings on your iPhone will even tell you when you have the correct sized tip fitted!
After just a couple of minutes, you've forgotten you are wearing them, as they allow air inside your ear to exit through the 'pod' itself, so there's no pressure feeling when they're inserted (unlike with normal in-ear phones).
Comfort is excellent!
And, of course, as mentioned at the start of this review...they sound terrific! Beautifully clean and clear; great high's, and the bass is stunning! Very deep and powerful, but not over-bearing - accurate is the word I'd use!
So, to sum them up..... yes, they're expensive, and yes, they're still quite hard to find at the moment, but.... they're expensive because they're filled with ridiculously clever micro-tech that allows them to work without hitch, and to sound fantastic.
Are they worth £250 ? To me... yes! Without a doubt.
When these first came out I nearly hocked at the price. Having owned a pair of original Airpod's I couldn't see me paying an additional £100 or more for a pair of these.
However, the original Airpod's have never really fitted securely in my ears and I always felt these could drop out at any time. It got to the point that when I wore these outside I'd be constantly checking and adjusting the fit thinking they were going to drop out.
After seeing many reviews of these I decided to go for it and purchase a pair and I can honestly say I have no fear that these are going to fall out and they fit very securely now. The thing that surprised me the most though was how good the noise cancelling feature works (I never purchased them for this reason). I could never go back to my original Airpod's now after experiencing these. Battery life doesn't seem to be affected either.
I have had one issue though on a couple of occasions though. Sometimes when I take them out the case and put them in, only one Airpod turns on. I now find that if I wait a few seconds for my iPhone or iPad to make the connection before I put them in my ear this seems to resolve the problem. It's just a bit of a pain that I have to do that though.
If you can afford these I would highly recommend them over the standard Airpods.
Massively overpriced, paying £250 I'd expect something of the same quality as the NuraPhones or just below it considering the Brand behind the AirPods are Apple. While the noise cancelling is an improvement on the original AirPods it's not on par wit audiophile level. The noise cancelling is terrible, it does not work at all unless your music is playing at a very loud level wherein it would've matter if you have noise cancelling or not due to the volume of the music, if your music volume is quite low or no music is playing the noise cancellation feature just works as an annoying sound muffler, you can still hear every sound just at a reduced volume. Overall the noise cancelling just does not work and as a result it just makes the AirPods pro a very overpriced pair of Bluetooth earphones you can get for A LOT cheaper, even at the £30 range.
Also still no functionality in terms of music control, no control in terms of music volume meaning you will have to use your phone, defeating the whole point of being able to control things on your phone without going on it through wireless earphones.
Overall a definite do not buy, if you have the old AirPods keep them. If you still want another wireless set of earphones switch to literally any cheaper alternative, if you're looking for a noise cancelling wireless system just go with the nuraphones, unmatched performance and customisation as well as WORKING and top notch noise cancelling.
I had some of the first generation AirPods and have been waiting for these to come back into stock on Amazon, as soon as they were in I ordered them.
These are far superior to the originals, the fit is snugger, helped by the three different sized changeable buds. The best thing with Apple products is they work together seamlessly, open bluetooth on your iPhone, hold the case nearby and that is it, simple.
Soundwise, the volume is louder than the originals but most impressive is the noise cancelling, pop them in your ears without any music playing and all background noise just disappears.
Price wise, a little on the expensive side but you get what you pay for.
I waited a while to get hold of these AirPods. Even bought the jabra 75t. Nothing wrong with jabra. But with the AirPods there is a lot more accessories available. first impression was the sound quality was not too good but after a week it improved and for the size of them there excellent. The sound isolation is amazing I also have the bose qc30. I think the sound isolation On the AirPods is as good. I'm really pleased with the AirPods the fit is perfect no chance of them falling out but this May not be the same for all. I also went out on my cycle and there was no wind noise which is a bonus. To be honest I think the jabra 75t are as good but not the sound isolation. The case is smaller tho. i am glad I bought the AirPods. if you can afford them buy them Ease of use and comfort and also I did notice the vacuum in ear was slightly less. I think they are over priced only my opinion. Sound isolation on the AirPods is definitely Good I drove my Land Rover Defender and I could Not here the engine. I'm 67 my hearing is probably not as good as someone younger. The only negative is you have to use Siri or your phone to alter the volume which did not bother me.
